Abstract :
We describe a novel type of optical switch based on moving waveguide. The switch is based on independently optimized latching silicon actuator and soft polymer waveguides. The actuator switching speed is measured below 0.5 ms. The coupling, bending and intersection loss of the waveguide are measured and we estimate the total insertion loss of the switch to be below 3 dB.
