Abstract :
The number of blind people is nowadays increasing due to various factors worldwide, which creates a inherent communication barrier between the blind and the sighted. The literature includes many studies about the solution of the communication and interaction problems experienced by the blind people. In this work, we design and implement a text-based system with the aim of solving the communication problem. The designed system has two stages, namely Turkish-to-Braille text translation and vice versa. The system can translate Turkish text into Braille-2 with no error. However, Braille-2 text can be translated into Turkish with an average of 90% success rate as can be seen in the results.
