Abstract
This paper addresses the meter placement problem with respect to load estimation (LE) in radial power distribution systems. A problem formulation of meter placement for LE considering measurement costs, LE accuracy and reliability for a given network configuration is proposed. A heuristic incremental meter placement method is developed. The zonal method addressed in J. Wan and K. Miu (2002) and J. Wan and K. Miu (2000) are used for LE. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown in a 20-bus radial distribution network.
