  • Abstract
The Water-en Energiebedrijf Aruba (WEB) N.V. is the sole utility company on Aruba and is responsible for the production of power and the production and distribution of potable water. The plant, located in Balashi, has a total installed capacity of 234 MW (incl. 26 MW diesel emergency generators), while the average daily demand is approximately 120 MW. All produced power is sold to the distribution company (N.V. Elmar) at 60 kV, which in turn distributes power throughout the island. Additionally the W.E.B. Aruba N.V. power plant is interconnected through 60kV power cables to the refinery powerhouse, located in San Nicolas. This interconnection is normally maintained at zero MW and serves primarily as backup for each other during emergency situation.
