  • Abstract
Information retrieval and information extraction are significant issues in the medical and health care domains where the accuracy of the retrieved information and obtaining it in a time critical situation are extremely important. In this paper, we propose a novel system, intelligent clinical notes system (ICNS) to help doctors extract needed information from clinical notes, which were written as free text. Both the software engineering technology, natural language processing aspects are described about this system. This system was developed for a real real-time environment and integrated into the existing clinical information system in use at the bedside in and intensive care unit.
