Abstract
This paper looks at the practice of insulation condition monitoring from several key perspectives. These include the materials basis, the criteria which must be met for a system to be successful and the hierarchy of insulation monitoring systems. From an applications perspective, the paper considers the need for and the utilisation of condition monitoring in Australia.
