Abstract
Permanent magnet generators have been used in battery charging of wind generation in remote area. This paper presents theoretical and experimental work done on a 20 kW outer-rotor permanent magnet prototype generator. A modified two-axis phasor diagram is used for the calculation of the generator parameters. Detailed determination of parameter values shows that the machine geometry and neodymium-iron-boron magnets have main influence on the machine performance. Some typical characteristics are discussed. The calculated and measured data show a good agreement in the characteristics.
