Abstract
This paper investigates the potential use of a supplemental control of a DFIG-based wind farm combined with a phase imbalanced hybrid series capacitive compensation scheme for damping power system oscillations. In the hybrid scheme, two phases are compensated by fixed series capacitors (C) and the third phase is compensated by a TCSC in series with a fixed capacitor (Cc). The effectiveness of the supplemental controls in damping power system oscillations is evaluated using the EMTP-RV.
