Abstract :
A blind adaptive filter with detection of PAM signal is proposed. By studying the structures of different order PAM signals, a new cost function including channel blind equalization and signal detection is defined. The key of this method is that the new constellations of different order PAM signals can be changed to 2-PAM, so we can used the constant statistical information of 2-PAM to equalize the different order PAM signals such as 2-PAM, 4-PAM, 8-PAM and so on. Furthermore such cost function will become exactly zero when the channel is equalized perfectly which results in the proposed adaptive filter obtains the faster convergence rate and lower steady state mean square error (MSE). Simulation results show that the proposed method achieves satisfactory performance.
