Abstract :
We present a model to derive MMDS/ISM band correlation path losses from collected PCS band experimental data. The model is based on experimental data taken in several suburban areas using combined mode portable PCS and MMDS CW transmitters. The characterization used is a linear curve fitting the decibel path loss to the decibel-distance, with a Gaussian random variation about that curve due to shadow fading. It was found that comparing the large scale effect in propagation at different frequency bands helps compare all the existing radio propagation phenomena and improve the modeling of the MMDS/ISM band path loss from the PCS measured path loss. The model is for suburban areas, and it distinguishes between different suburban environments. The suburban environment is sub-classified based on predefined morphology characteristics. The correlation models with varying resolution in terms of predicted mean error and the standard deviation are presented. The derived correlation models are independent of height variations as long as the PCS and MMDS/ISM antenna heights are kept the same.
