Abstract :
Summary form only given. A new delta compression algorithm most suitable for RISC binary programs of embedded systems is presented. Conventional delta algorithms are mainly suitable for character codes. These codes compact only the same strings found in both the base and version files as copy commands. Furthermore, in the case of RISC binary programs, the delta file is encoded by many repetitions of short copy length and added data. The proposed algorithm compacts the repetitions of same instruction codes found in both the base and version files and the difference values of register changing.
