Abstract :
The paper compares results to test and validate the applicability of two different empirical formulae for calculating the resonant frequencies of a rectangular, probe-fed, U-slot microstrip patch antenna on single-layer, grounded substrates with permittivity ranging from εr=2.2 to εr=9.8. The results indicate that the empirical formulae for the resonant frequencies of the U-slot antenna geometries agree well with the results from exact analysis for relatively low permittivity substrates with εr<4.5.
