Abstract :
The authors have reported a rectangular patch microstrip antenna printed on a parallelepiped dielectric chip for the Bluetooth system at 2400-2483.5 MHz (Taguchi, M. et al., Proc. 2002 Interim Int. Symp. Antennas and Propag., vol.2A2-2, 2002). This antenna is excited by a monopole antenna printed on the sidewall of the dielectric chip. The relative permittivity of the chip is 37. The antenna is compact. This type of antenna is now analyzed, numerically and experimentally, for the wireless LAN application at 5.2 GHz. The dielectric chip is 8 mm by 6 mm by 2 mm and is located on a lower dielectric substrate of 20 mm by 48 mm. This antenna is electromagnetically coupled and excited by three monopole antennas, composed of through holes within the chip, connected to a microstrip line on the lower substrate. In the numerical analysis, the electromagnetic simulator "Fidelity" based on the FDTD method is used.
