Abstract
Linear detection of the downlink signals of a direct-sequence code division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) system has seen significant research in the past years. Notable amongst such efforts is the generalized RAKE (based on ML criterion) and the RAKE receiver based on symbol-level MMSE. Both these approaches aim to suppress interference even while exploiting diversity. We show analytically that these two approaches are exactly equivalent.
