Abstract
Development of EHV cables insulated with PPP (paper-polypropylene-paper) laminate has been successfully demonstrated. Development work in the United States and overseas is discussed. To data approximately 50 circuit miles of PPP-insulated cables up through 345 kV have been installed for commercial application. Recently a new totally domestic laminate has been developed and fully qualified for commercial application. Work is progressing toward development of a fully synthetic film for use as insulation in EHV cables
