Abstract :
An X-band RF MEMS phase shifter fabricated using flexible printed circuit technology is reported. A main-line type loaded line phase shifter has been implemented using two shunt MEMS varactors mounted on a CPW line. A phase shift of 31° with a maximum insertion loss of 0.56 dB has been obtained at 9 GHz for an applied DC bias voltage of 40 V. This type of phase shifter is suitable for batch integration with printed circuit based phased array antennas.
