Abstract :
A spiral case structure with cushion layer has been analyzed by three-dimensional nonlinear finite element method based on ABAQUS and the influence of contact friction characteristic between steel spiral case and surrounding concrete on the stress status of the structure are studied. When the contact slippage is considered, the load bearing ratio of the steel spiral case will increase and its average circumferential stress will increase by 40%, while the load bearing ratio of the rebar and the damage area of the concrete will decrease. This is beneficial to improve the crack resistance safety and the integrity of the surrounding concrete structure. Therefore the influence of contact friction characteristic should be respected in the simulation of the spiral case structure with cushion layer.
