Abstract :
The author presents a method and a system for neuromuscular stimulation that can provide adaptive muscle contraction control. Feedback control of muscle contraction can be exercised by the system which measures the muscle electrical activity due to electrical stimulation, estimates the contraction force, computes the energy of the stimulation pulse necessary to reach a predetermined level of muscle contraction, and generates and injects the stimulation pulses required to maintain the contraction force
