Abstract :
The paper extends the notion of course chart by incorporating time-based information. As more and more learning materials are accumulating on the Web, the burden imposed on the student in managing his own study also becomes heavier. Without suitable guidance, the ideal of providing learning opportunities to any person, anywhere, anytime would be virtually impossible to achieve if the students are getting lost in the cyber-campus. To avoid prolonged and unnecessary browsing and thereby affecting the progress of the student´s entire study plan, a mechanism to monitor the progress of the students in terms of the time they spent on the topics has been developed. By adapting project management techniques into the context of study management, a course advisory system is proposed that monitors the study progress of a student and alerts the instructor if necessary
