Abstract
Residual carrier frequency offset leads to bit-error rates on later symbols in an OFDM packet. Two methods for residual carrier frequency offset estimation have been compared by first-order perturbation analysis and simulations. A serious drawback of the one method has been identified. Preference should be given to the other in terms of estimation accuracy and ease of implementation in practice.
