Abstract :
An automated control and telemetry system that allows the Luck Lake irrigation system to operate unmanned is discussed. The system provides water to irrigation pivots at the correct operating pressure and controls the demand for water in order to match demand with the available capacity. The system also provides a scheduled flow of water to a local waterfowl habitat. It is concluded that the automated pump control and telemetry system at Luck Lake provides an effective means of operating a large pressurized irrigation system without continuous attention by an operator. This feature allows efficient operation and reduced manpower, resulting in savings to the owner
