Abstract :
40-Gbit/s single-wavelength alternate polarization soliton field experiment was performed on a dispersion-shifted fiber installed cable 500 km long. Comparison with an equivalent fiber installed in laboratory showed that the main impairment was due to the polarization-mode dispersion.
