Abstract
A broadband slot bow-tie antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) line is presented. The antenna structure design takes advantage of the slot coupling feeding technique and the slot antenna concept to improve the bandwidth. Based on using a slot radiating element instead of a patch, as used in conventional antennas, a good performances in terms of bandwidth and gain are achieved. The proposed antenna was designed, fabricated and tested at 5.8 GHz. With this approach, a bandwidth of ∼19.3% (1.1 GHz) was achieved. Numerical and experimental results for return loss and radiation pattern are presented and discussed.
