Abstract
In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm, called SPCHTA (shared lightpath protection based on connection holding time awareness), for the survivable two-layer optical mesh networks. For dynamic traffic, the holding time of traffic connection requests may be known in advance. So we can use the connection holding time to set up working path and backup path for the request. Through this algorithm, we can save the network resource overbuild and reduce the blocking ratio. Simulation results show that our algorithm performs better than the previous algorithm.
