Abstract :
A new scheme (IDM-OVTDM) of space division multiplexing system which can work in non-full rank channel is presented in the paper. The new scheme proposed combines Interleave-division multiple-access (IDMA) with overlapped time division multiplexing (OVTDM). The basic knowledge of IDMA and principles of OVTDM, which explain the reasons of combing these two techniques, are introduced in Foschini (1996). Then the transmitting and receiving structure and detection algorithms of IDM-OVTDM are proposed. The new scheme presented in the paper not only improves the spectral efficiency but also enhances the reliability of transmission system. Further more, the new scheme achieves the space division multiplexing in poor scattering environments, which is different from MIMO system. The advantages of IDM-OVTDM were demonstrated by analytical and simulation result.
