Abstract
We demonstrate a good agreement between experiments and simulations on a 16/spl times/10 Gbit/s wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) transmission system over 7500 km with an average Q-factor >16 dB. We used a simulation technique based on careful evaluation of the key physical effects that produce system impairments.
