Abstract :
This investigation is concerned with the model reference linear adaptive speed control of DC drives, incorporating separately excited DC motors, subjected to uncertainties including parameter variations, ensuring optimum efficiency. The adaptive controller, using the integral adaptive law, drives the plant output speed to the desired speed at any load and maximum efficiency is maintained by controlling the field current by an integral controller in the loss control loop (LCL). The stability of the speed control loop (SCL) has been established by using linear techniques (for the first time), ignoring the interaction between this and LCL whose stability is established using a new Lyapunov function. The simulation results confirm the analytical findings
