Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel Fourier descriptor for image retrieval, called area function Fourier descriptors based on contour split. The proposed approach has the qualities of translation, scale, and rotation invariance. The great advantage of the proposed approach is invariant to affine transformation, and we prove the affine invariance through mathematical deduction. The experiment result shows the correctness of the approach, and we also do simulated experiments compared with some other methods of Fourier descriptors and two region-based methods to show advantages of the proposed approach.
