Abstract :
TCP Vegas congestion algorithm was designed for wired networks, but has poor performance when used in mobile ad hoc network. This paper analyses the impact of hops changing in mobile ad hoc network on the performance of TCP Vegas, and presents a new algorithm named TCP Vegas-HA (TCP Vegas - Hops Adaptive) to improve the performance of TCP Vegas in mobile ad hoc network. As the minimum round-trip time (baseRTT) cannot be accurately measured in mobile ad hoc network, a new measurement method using the empirical value is proposed. Simulation results show that the algorithm has good adaptability with route buffers changing while hops varies, and can effectively increase the TCP Vegas throughput in mobile ad hoc network.
