Abstract :
In 1988, Matra Marconi Space developed an irradiation test line at the GANIL accelerator to characterize the behaviour of electronic components under heavy ion exposure. The GANIL facility is now an operational system for such characterizations. The authors describe the GANIL characteristics. This accelerator can produce very high energy ions and so, allows experiments in air. The test system facilities (SEU, LU and BO) developed are also described. Finally, experimental results giving the LET threshold and Cross Section obtained in some of these studies and the CREME predicted upset rates in space are presented.
