Abstract
The recently developed dumb-bell shaped defected ground structure (DGS) is successfully used to mutual coupling reduction of a two-element microstrip antenna array. Comparison of the proposed DGS antenna with other techniques shows the unique capability of the DGS structure to reduce the mutual coupling. Influence of the designed DGS on radiation pattern of the antenna array is also investigated
