Abstract :
We present the theoretical concept of communicating over non-coherent block fading channel using Layered Unitary Space Time Codes (LUSTC), where efficient algorithms exist for decoding as compared to the exponentially complex decoding of Unitary Space Time Codes (USTC). In this paper, we focus on the designing the LUSTC signals. A successive design technique is applied to leverage the problem of optimizing over too many parameters. In case when even the successive design is to complex to use, an alternative heuristic design approach is provided to construct the signal constellations with less effort.
