Abstract :
This paper proposes a simplified digital beamforming method based on the delaying theory of the first-order bandpass sampling. The complex weighting for beamforming in this method is divided into two parts, the amplitude weighting and the phase shifting. The phase shifting is realized by controlled sampling delay, so the beamforming is performed by simple weighting of the sampled signals. The proposed method is illustrated by an application example, and some simulation results are given. The simulations show that a considerable performance is achieved by selecting appropriate parameters
