Abstract :
For those who have received brachytherapy treatment, knowledge of the radiation dose distribution of the interstitial or intracavitary radioactive source implant will provide useful information. Damage to the normal tissue or organs will be minimized and unnecessary exposure will be limited. The absorbed doses to the thyroid and the female breasts were estimated by simulating radioactive sources implanted in the cervix region. The energy imparted to the patient can be estimated from measurement of the exposure environment. Estimated results were compared with dose calculations by the MIRD committee. Organ doses between these two approaches were taken as a compromise.
