Abstract :
SVCs are widely used in power systems to maintain the voltage stability. Few attentions have paid on its characteristics under DC bias conditions. Based on a real steel company SVC system, simulations are done after theoretical analysis. It shows that the output reactive power cannot meet the voltage stability command; new control strategy should be made. The results of this paper provide reference for field operation.
