Abstract :
We investigate here the performance of a reconfigurable CPW-fed slot microstrip array whose radiation pattern can be controlled using MEMS switches with independent actuations. Full wave simulations of a four elements array, fabricated on a high-permittivity substrate, confirms that return losses remain lower than -10 dB for a half-power beamwidth comprised between 18.5° and 56° at 40.5 GHz. Design constraints, radiation performance and measurements are presented. Characteristics of larger 1D arrays and 2D arrays are also discussed.
