Abstract
Marine sensor networks are emergent and powerful tools for oceanic and environmental observation, because provide wide temporal and geographic coverage under multidisciplinary view. The management of the heterogeneity of instrumentation and data involved in these networks is one of the main challenges for their successful implementation. Policy based network management technologies are well suited for simplify management tasks of complex and dynamic networks. This paper outlines the benefits of using policy based network management on marine sensor networks. We also present an information model of the different entities present on these acquisition systems (instrumentation, network elements and data) and the policy model that could be used for manage them.
