Abstract
A brief overview is given of the properties of the spherical multipole model. Attention is paid to two approaches for the estimation of the multipole moments, namely a method using numerical integration and a method using linear regression. The advantages and disadvantages of both methods are highlighted. The authors also describe the methods and results of a statistical study proving at a significance level of p=0.05 the presence of supplementary diagnostic information in higher-degree multipole moments when these are added to the dipole moments (the VCG). The authors also examine the problem of representing detailed surface potential signal information using a spherical multipole model.<>
