Abstract :
This paper describes the experiences of constructing a RSVP local network and reports the results of the performance measurement. The RSVP local network is a RSVP/CBQ testbed and the network that is able to support an enhanced QoS. RSVP is a mere signaling protocol, so CBQ (Class-Based Queueing) is required to provide a traffic control mechanism and resource management for each flow. Mgen, ttt, and vic application are used to compare a reserved traffic with a nonreserved traffic. Several experiments show that the RSVP local network provides the enhanced QoS for the reserved traffic of real-time applications. Finally, this paper discusses the problems of the RSVP local network and suggests the minor solutions
