Abstract :
In order to research flame retardants and smoke suppressants of "high effectivity, low toxicity, no pollution". Wood powder were treated with two silicon compounds and their mixtures with Tin. Flame retardant and smoke suppression of two silicon compounds were researched by cone calorimeter (CONE), and the synergistic effect with Tin were preliminarily investigated. The results showed that, heat release rate (HRR) decreased about 25% by Na2SiO3 and its mixtures treating, and total heat release (THR) accounted for only 70.4% of the untreatment. Compared with untreatment, total smoke production (TSP) decreased about 50% by Na2SiO3 and its mixtures treating. Effective heat of combustion (EHC) and mass loss rate (MLR) etc. had varying degree depression after flame retardants treatment. Good flame retardant and smoke suppression properties of two silicon compounds and their mixtures with Tin were demonstrated. And Na2SiO3 was proved to be a potential wood flame retardant and smoke suppressant. The flame retardant and smoke suppression synergistic mechanism need to be further explored.
