Abstract :
This paper reports an experimental investigation of split-ring and wire negative refractive index media. Negative refractive index effects were demonstrated, but the sample showed strong non-specular scattering from irregularities in its structure. We also report an extension of bandwidth limitations on artificial magnetic conductor surfaces to oblique incidence, and a brief examination of negative refractive index materials as radar absorbers.
