Abstract :
Emphasises our effort and the current status of the Indonesian library network. The Indonesian AI3 network, supported by the AI3 project, has become the main backbone of the network. The freeware library database CDS/ISIS from UNESCO is used and developed to suit the needs of the Indonesian libraries. FreeWAIS is used to link these CDS/ISIS databases into a WAIS search engine network that is accessible from the World Wide Web. Currently, the library network consists of 15+ CDS/ISIS Indonesian library databases. Currently, there are three major CDS/ISIS Web servers linked into the WAIS search engine network in the Indonesian AI3 network, namely those of the Institute of Technology in Bandung (ITB), Pusat Dokumentasi Informasi Ilmiah-Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (PDII LIPI) and the Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), while other institutions that are hosting their CDS/ISIS databases at ITB include the Universitas Atmadjaja, Universitas Lampung (UNILA) and Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB). To facilitate a discussion platform among Indonesian librarians, an open Internet mailing list (<pustakawan@itb.ac.id>) is used, while the open mailing list <library-network@itb.ac.id> is used to facilitate discussion among Indonesian and international librarians for possible linkages between Indonesia and international library networks. Currently, an effort is underway to link the Canadian library network into the Indonesian library network
