Abstract
This paper describes a development of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) and driver for electric vehicle (EV) which is driven by 2 motors without differential gear. Prototype IPMSM and inverter have been developed. An IPMSM was designed using CAD system for IPMSM combined equivalent circuit with FEM. Also an inverter was developed to drive 2 motors with 6 legs IGBT switches in a control board. The vector control algorithm was implemented with maximum torque control method in the constant torque region and field weakening control method in the constant power region considering inverter capacity. And also, to verify that the EV fitted with a wheel-mounted IPMSM, inverter, and planetary gear is more light and has more high power density than an induction motor with the same power. Now we are making an EV using a passenger vehicle by KIA-MOTORS. So, in this paper, we would like to show the results partly about the design and analysis of the IPMSM for 2-motor driven EV and the experiment results about the inverter.
