  • Abstract
The rapid growth of mobile telecommunication applications has proposed the requirement on mobility support for both moving single node and moving network. While NEMO protocol is proposed to support the mobility of network, the handoff performance is highly limited. By combining other high layer mobility protocol, such as HIP, the handoff performance can be enhanced significantly. In this paper, the handoff performance, especially the handoff signaling cost is studied for applying NEMO and the combination of NEMO and HIP. A novel micro-mobility scheme based on the combination of NEMO and HIP is also proposed The communication and handoff process are described, and the handoff signaling cost is evaluated. Numerical results demonstrate that for supporting micro-mobility scenario, the handoff signaling cost can be reduced significantly under the proposed scheme comparing to that of NEMO and the combination of HIP and NEMO.
