Abstract :
This document proposes the Streaming Port API, intended as an extension to the ARINC 653 inter-partition communications API. The ARINC 653 specification defines an inter-partition communications API consisting of Queuing and Sampling Port interfaces. While these interfaces work well for transmission / reception of small periodic blocks of data, they do not facilitate transfer of large blocks of data, such as reliable transport of data blocks larger than can be transported by a single Internet Protocol packet, or User Datagram Protocol datagram. As such, the Streaming Port API aims to enhance the ARINC 653 inter-partition communications API capabilities through provision for reliable transport of large block size data.
