Abstract :
Route selection algorithms typically use a single metric for routing decisions; this approach will not work when multi media applications impose strict concurrent multicriteria performance requirements on the network. This paper will provide a compromise solution when there are competing performance requirements (packet loss, latency, jitter, link communication cost, and security) on routing paths of varying capabilities. The methodology can be extended to any number of performance metrics. This paper will use the voice over IP application and the ITU-T´s E-model for demonstrating the methodology
