  • Abstract
This paper presents ActiveEdge-M, a middleware platform for building survivable, cognitive, multi-agent applications in mobile ad-hoc networks (MANET). ActiveEdge-M provides a set of middleware and application services needed to build agent-based applications in a MANET environment. This includes asynchronous messaging, controllable bandwidth consumption, self-management, survivability, high-level middleware services, and efficient, role-based, and distributed knowledge management. Using the ActiveEdge-M framework, agents can adapt to rapidly changing network conditions, combining both collaborative and autonomous behaviors to achieve their designated mission
