Abstract
This paper reports on the design of a package-antenna operating at 2.4 GHz which can be used in wireless sensor network (WSN) nodes. The goal of this study is to reduce the size of WSN nodes by decreasing the antenna dimensions, found as a major contributor in the final node size. As the transceiver is packaged by the antenna, we focused our investigations on the influence of the transceiver size and position on the radiation characteristics of the antenna. Furthermore, the influence of environment where the antenna is placed was done. The optimisation of this 3D antenna is made using an electromagnetic simulator and comparison with measurement shows a good agreement.
