Abstract :
Maximum likelihood (ML) and maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimators are described for the estimation of wind velocity using position, and airspeed measurements from flight data recordings. The estimators are demonstrated using simulated flight data and experimental flight data from a high-altitude sailplane flight.
