  • Abstract
    With on analogy to the terrestrial transportation network various broadband network technologies to support multimedia services are described. The subnetworks of an information highway are examined in terms of its backbone network, subnetworks, local networks, and access ramps. The characteristics of broadband networking technologies are compared.
